Planning Those Summer Trips? Don’t Forget To Pack Some Games!

Planning Those Summer Trips? Don’t Forget To Pack Some Games! As Spring Break approaches, many families begin to plan their summer vacation trips.. If you’re headed to a place you’ve been to before, you know what to expect. If you’re headed to a new place, the excitement of a new adventure awaits. It may be by car, plane or train, but the essentials are all the same for the most part.

Regardless where you’re headed or how you plan to get there, the important part is that it is a time for the family to be together. It is a time to de-stress and relax, enjoy not having the same old routine of school and work. To make that all work out though, you want to make sure you have planned properly and packed accordingly.

Packing: Packing is almost an art form. You want to bring everything you’ll need but you don’t want to over pack. This is especially true if traveling by plane or train where you’re limited to what you can bring. So you’ll need to plan ahead and create a list as you plan.

Protection: Make sure you bring along hats, sunglasses and sun screen. The sun is bright during the summer months and the last thing you want to is ruin the trip with a sunburn.

Flexibility: Don’t make your plans so tight that you don’t have any wiggle room for last minute changes. Even if you are going where you’ve been before, there is always the possibility of the unexpected.

Pictures: Don’t forget the camera! You can always buy an instamatic if you do, but the prices are sometimes outrageous in the tourist time of year.

Entertainment: When traveling with kids of all ages, make sure you bring along things to keep them entertained. Books and music are top of the list no matter how you’re traveling or where you’re going. And have some things for them to when you get to your destination to burn off some of the energy. Outdoor games like Bocche or Rollors are great for that purpose.

Most of all, don’t overdo it on your summer vacation. This is supposed to be the time you relax, unwind and recharge. Getting away means just that – get away and don’t bring work with you. Set some time aside for real conversations, which may mean taking up all the mobile devices for a while. But in the end, when you get back home and back in the usual routine, you’ll be glad that you did.
